To put the above tweet into context, Keanu Reeves’ voice and likeness are going to be featured in CD Projekt Red’s upcoming role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077. Following the reveal of a new trailer, Mr. Reeves himself came onto the Xbox E3 2019 stage to talk about the game and announce the release date. Here’s the short conversation that happened while he was on stage:
Keanu Reeves: “Okay, but let me tell ya. The feeling of being there, of walking the streets of [the] future, is really going to be breathtaking.”
Peter Sark: “You’re breathtaking!”
Keanu Reeves: [laughs] “You’re breathtaking! You’re all breathtaking!”
The Cyberpunk 2077 “You’re breathtaking” fan has subsequently been identified as Peter Sark, a gaming YouTuber with just under 5,000 subscribers on his channel who took a risk and shouted out his response to Keanu Reeves during the presentation. The off-the-cuff message caused the seasoned actor notable for his roles in The Matrix and John Wick to laugh and improvise his own response.
The interaction has subsequently become a bit of a meme on the Internet and CD Projekt Red has taken the opportunity to reward him for creating this Internet sensation as noted on the game’s official Twitter:
