Following on from the release of The C64 Mini in 2018, the full-size remake of the classic 1980s home computer is once again being developed by Retro Games Ltd. and distributed by Koch Media.

The upcoming C64 remake has a full-sized working keyboard, includes a microswitch class joystick that connects to one of the four USB sockets on the device and can connect to any modern TV via HDMI. You have multiple options when it comes to using the C64 Maxi, with three switchable modes available. Users can load games or saves from a USB Flash Drive in C64 or VIC20 modes or utilize the built-in games library with 64 titles in 50Hz or 60Hz, with the option to use CRT filters.

Included in the fully licensed C64 remake is a large selection of classic games including California Games, Boulder Dash, and Paradroid. There are numerous new additions to the game library, GridrunnerHover Bovver and Attack of the Mutant Camels being just a few of the titles being added.

“We are delighted to be working with Koch Media once more to bring back even more of the most loved retro games ever on two of the most iconic home computers of all time, and which now has a full working keyboard”, said Paul Andrews, Retro Games’ Managing Director. “THEC64 full size is a reimagining of the classic C64 computer and the second in a planned series of products on the way.”

Paul Andrews previously worked for Retro Computers who were working on the handheld release of the ZX Spectrum, however he resigned during the development

Recently there’s been a noticeable increase in remakes of retro consoles on the market, including the  SNES Mini, the PlayStation Classic and the upcoming remakes of the Sega Megadrive Mini.

Currently, the C64 Maxi is only available for preorder in Germany via Amazon for €119.99.
