Final Fantasy VII: Now Steam Powered

Final Fantasy VII was released for PC not long after its 1997 PlayStation release. It would later have great success as a downloadable title on the PlayStation Network. Last year, Square Enix made some minor tweaks and offered the PC version via its own download service. Today, Steam has released the game on its own service for $11.99 USD. This comes as somewhat of a surprise; one would think there'd have been some kind of announcement, but this came out of nowhere. Australians are reporting that it is $16 in their region.

The game includes "Cloud Saves," but the feature name ends with only two words. I was personally hoping for "Cloud Saves Aeris." (I still call her Aeris. It just sounds better to me.)

The game appears to be largely the same as the Square Enix online store version, to the extent that you will even need a Square Enix member account to play. It includes some sweet always-online DRM. The PSN version does not include this quality assurance enhancement.
