Carmack: The Next-Gen Battle Is “Anyone’s Game”

John Carmack, id Software's resident genius, shared a bit about his thoughts on the next generation of gaming hardware, saying, "It's anyone's game as far as I can tell right now, and that's exciting."

As far as technical capabilities go, Carmack noted the striking similarities between Microsoft and Sony's upcoming gaming machines. "It's almost amazing how close they are in capabilities," he explained.

"How common they are and how the capabilities they give are essentially the same. We can talk about differences in memory architectures, but the bottom line being that they're a multi-core AMD processor with AMD graphics, is it's almost weird how close they are," he added.
