The Resident Evil 3 remake release date has finally been announced after the game popped up on our radars just a couple of days ago. Not only will you be able to get the Resident Evil 3 remake on April 3, 2020 — you’re also going to be getting a bonus game for free.
Many of us are well familiar with the story of Resident Evil 3, so there isn’t much new to reveal in that respect. We can, however, say that this upcoming game looks absolutely fantastic, continuing the tradition of excellent remakes in this CAPCOM franchise.
If you’re not super-familiar with the game, here’s a short description from a PlayStation Blog post:
Taking place a few months after the original Resident Evil ends, Resident Evil 3 takes place both before and after the events of Resident Evil 2. While Leon and Claire’s stories occur after the city has already been infected for some time, Jill’s story provides a new perspective. Starting with the early days of the outbreak, you’ll follow Jill’s fight for survival as the population of the once-lively metropolis turns into hordes of undead.
The good news of the Residente Evil 3 remake release date doesn’t end there, though! Remember Project Resistance (which is now being called Resident Evil Resistance)? Well, it’s not a standalone game like some of us might have thought — it’s going to be included with the remake of Resident Evil 3. (In fact, the RE3 remake was called “an exclusive reveal of the unannounced campaign portion of CAPCOM’s Project Resistance.”
A pretty cool Collector’s Edition was also announced in a PlayStation Blog post, featuring a detailed map of Raccoon City and a pretty nice Jill Valentine figure.
Here’s what’s included with the Resident Evil 3 remake Collector’s Edition:
- Resident Evil 3 Remake Standard Edition
- Raccoon City double-sided map
- Digital Double Album S oundtrack
- 11″ (≈ 28cm) Jill Valentine figure
- Collector’s artbook
- S.T.A.R.S. Item Box Packaging
As one might expect, there is also a pre-order incentive for people who are thinking about picking up this game. Anyone who pre-orders the Standard Edition or Collector’s Edition will get the Classic Costume Pack; this piece of DLC is exactly what it says on the tin, featuring classic costumes that are inspired by the look of Jill and Carlos in the original Resident Evil 3.
