Google ‘Pokemon Vote’ lets you choose your Pokemon of the Year

Do you have a favorite Pokemon? Well, a recently-revealed Google Pokemon Vote will let you choose which of the 890 colorful creatures released over the last twenty years are your favorite. These votes will be tallied and ultimately determine the Pokemon of the Year, just in time for the franchise’s 20th anniversary later in the month of February 2020.

As ResetEra highlights, Google is running a vote where participants can choose their favorite Pokemon every single day. The vote is being run in advance of Pokemon Day, a celebration of the franchise’s Japanese launch on February 27, 2020.

Putting in your entries for the Pokemon Vote on Google is a pretty straightforward process. Simply type in “pokemon vote” on Google and you’ll see the interface pop up at the top of the search window.

From there, you can vote for one Pokemon from each of the eight following categories:

  • Kanto
  • Johto
  • Hoenn
  • Sinnoh
  • Unova/Unys/Unima/Einall/Teselia
  • Kalos
  • Alola
  • Galar, etc.

Unlike Pokemon Sword and Shield, Google has every single one of the 890 Pokemon released so far. You’ll be able to cast a single vote in each category as noted in the rules:

Vote for your favorite Pokémon, choosing from all those discovered up through Pokémon Sword and Shield (National Pokédex No. 001-890)!

Each day, you can vote for 1 species per category until 13:59 UTC on Fri, Feb 14. NOTE: All forms of each species count as the same Pokémon. Your votes will be stored until the vote ends and cannot be deleted.

Once the voting period closes, Google will tabulate the results. You’ll then be able to see the full results of the Pokemon Vote on Pokemon Day 2020, which will be taking place on February 27 of this year.

This isn’t the only good Pokemon news, by the by — a brand new Gigantamax Pokemon has entered the fray! Gigantamax Toxtricity will now pop up in Max Raid Battles starting tomorrow, February 6, at 7:00 PM Eastern and continuing to be available until Sunday, March 8, 2020, at 8:00 PM Eastern.
