Mortal Kombat 11 Ash from Evil Dead DLC unintentionally confirmed in official email

Mortal Kombat 11 Ash from Evil Dead DLC unintentionally revealed in official email

Mortal Kombat 11 isn’t done, despite wrapping up its first Kombat Pack with the recent release of Spawn. In a recent marketing email acquired by GameRevolution from Reddit user Nefaariious, WB Games has seemingly confirmed that the long-rumored Mortal Kombat 11 Ash DLC is indeed true. While likely a slip up, this is the first time WB has officially spoken about Evil Dead’s iconic protagonist.

This email in question states the following at the bottom after conveying that Spawn is now available for all to play:

“‘ASH” character from ‘ARMY OF DARKNESS’ is licensed from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc.ARMY OF DARKNESS TM & © 1993 Orion Pictures Corporation. © 2019 year of development-distribution. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. All Rights Reserved.”

Army of Darkness is the third Evil Dead film and hit theaters in February 1993. It was met with decent critical reception that was only slightly lower than the prior two entries.

While this is the only time WB has acknowledged Ash Williams’ inclusion in Mortal Kombat 11, it’s not the first sign of him being in the all-but-confirmed Kombat Pack 2. Ash was datamined from the game’s files last year near the game’s initial release along with fighters from the first Kombat Pack. Those fighters — Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Sindel, Spawn, The Joker, and Terminator — had not been confirmed at that time, but those all ended up being true and gives credence to the other files in that datamine.

These came alongside kombatants that still haven’t been officially confirmed like Sheeva (who shows up in the story mode) and Fujin, whose name was spoken in one of the more recent leaks from October 2019. This audio clip leak came alongside files pointing to the inclusion of two classic stages coming sometime in the future: Deadpool and Soul Chamber. While not in the game yet, they’ll likely be part of the game’s inevitable ultimate edition, which will likely release sometime soon, given that the coveted fighting game is inching closer to its first anniversary.

This is another in a long line of leaks concerning Mortal Kombat 11 that stretches from its DLC, initial cast, two post-launch announcer packs, and more. Although actor Bruce Campbell has tried to perform a Fatality on rumors of Ash’s appearance, it looks like he secretly performed a Friendship instead (which are also rumored to be coming to MK11).
