Rogue Company beta John Wick style

Rogue Company early access surprise launches with a John Wick-style trailer

Hi-Rez Studios and First Watch Games have something special for you today — the Rogue Company early access has suddenly launched on PC and all three major consoles. That’s right, you can play their newest third-person shooter right now.

The announcement was made during today’s Summer Game Fest stream featuring Geoff Keighley. This compounds an earlier reveal during the Nintendo Direct Mini that took place earlier today.

“So yeah, first and foremost, we are a third-person, ground-based shooter,” began First Watch Games’ Scott Lussier in a Summer Game Fest Developer Showcase. “But what we’re bringing to the table here is that we have a unique blend between action gameplay and tactical shooting.”

“And you’re also bringing that action gameplay [and] tactical shooting to four platforms right here at the beginning,” inquired Summer Game Fest’s Geoff Keighley. “Tell us a bit about that.”

“Yeah, so today we are launching … With going out on all four platforms, we are actually going to be launching with cross-play and cross-progression. Which is something that we hold very close to our hearts at First Watch Games. We want people to be able to play the game they want with their friends regardless of the platform. It’s one of the worst experiences of all time — [trying] to figure out what platform your friend’s playing on and if you can play them. We just want you to be able to play the game you want.”

Rogue Company beta burning streets

That’s not the only cool thing we’ve learned — the Rogue Company early access period will be targeting 60 FPS on all platforms — Nintendo Switch included. The game will be able to hit 60 frames per second on your Switch, whether you’re in handheld mode or docked mode.

Today’s new information also revealed a very stylish launch trailer that is reminiscent of the sommelier scene in John Wick 2. A woman named Ronin walks into a clothing shop with a companion in search of some new firepower. The clerk pushes a button and reveals a massive wall of guns, going over multiple weapons in exquisite detail before Ronin finally settles on a purchase and jumps right into an intense gunfight.

If you’d like to check out the Rogue Company beta for yourself, you can play it on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch right now; find out more at the game’s official website.
