Driveclub Reportedly Delayed To 2014 [Update: Sony Confirms, Adds New PS Plus Bonus]

[Update] Sony has confirmed that Driveclub has been delayed to 2014.

On the PlayStation Blog, the company assured gamers that while Evolution Studios' racer won't be available on day one, there will still be free game—in addition to Resogun—for all PlayStation Plus subscribers: Contrast.

SCE Worldwide Studios and the team at Evolution Studios have made the difficult decision to delay the release of Driveclub and Driveclub PlayStation Plus Edition until early 2014. Driveclub will be a truly innovative, socially connected racing game, but the team requires more time in order to deliver on their vision — and I’m fully confident the game will surpass your expectations.

This decision also affects PlayStation Plus members‘ Instant Game Collection for launch. To be clear, Driveclub PlayStation Plus Edition will still be part of the Instant Game Collection when it is released. For the PS4 launch, in addition to Resogun, I’m pleased to announce that Contrast, the highly anticipated game from Compulsion Games will also be available to PlayStation Plus members for free as part of Instant Game Collection.

[Original] Several reports have suggested that the upcoming PlayStation 4-exclusive racer from Evolution Studios has been delayed to 2014.

Alleged sources over at both The Same Coin and Kotaku suggest that DriveClub won't release this year. That said, Sony has yet to offer an official statement confirming such, so we'll have to treat this as nothing more than rumor for the time being.

DriveClub is supposed to be coming to all PlayStation 4 owners as a PlayStation Plus bonus, but if the game has been delayed, for those looking for a next-gen racing experience on PS4 free of charge will be sorely disappointed.

Stay tuned to GameRevolution for any updates that may come our way.
