New Assassin’s Creed game may have been teased by ‘confidential’ Ubisoft achievements

A new Assassin’s Creed game is seemingly on its way, with new achievements posted for a confidential Ubisoft game potentially pointing to the next entry in the series.

A list of achievements for an unnamed project was posted to True Achievements this week and spotted by GameRevolution. These achievements feature the familiar “confidential” label typically associated with Ubisoft’s games, along with artwork reminiscent of recent AC games.

What’s in the Assassin’s Creed 2021 leak?

The achievements are for a test build of the game, with 1,000 Gamerscore spread across 10 separate rewards. The game information states that the title is “to be announced,” alongside what we presume to be placeholder information stating the game’s platforms as Xbox One. The test build for the game measures in at 17.51 GB, which is typical for a game of AC’s usual scale.

The artwork used for the achievements depicts an open hand against a black and gold hexagon with a blue background. Previous Assassin’s Creed games have used similar artwork — 2020’s Valhalla featured a variety of symbols inside a circle against a blue background — typically referencing the region and time period the game is set in.

When is the next Assassin’s Creed coming out?

As Valhalla only released last year, the next Assassin’s Creed game is expected to launch in late 2022. If its first test build is going live soon, this would line up with this expected release window.

Ubisoft hasn’t officially confirmed its plans for the next Assassin’s Creed game, with various unverified rumors claiming that it could be set anywhere from ancient China to India. Valhalla was announced in April 2020 before its release in November, so if the next AC game follows the same pattern, we’ll be waiting a while to find out more about the next entry in the series.

In other news, a new Dying Light 2 developer update attempted to dissuade concerns over the game’s reported “development hell.” A Thor Easter Egg was also spotted in the popular survival game Valheim.
