Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy MCU skins to be free, not microtransactions

While the game has only just been announced, Square Enix has revealed that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy MCU skins will be available in the GOTG game, just like it has recently started adding to the Avengers game. Even better, the publisher has confirmed that there will be no Guardians of the Galaxy microtransactions or DLC of any kind, so the GOTG game MCU outfits will be made as unlockable rewards for free from day one.

How to get the Guardians of the Galaxy MCU skins

The Marvel Cinematic Universe skins for the Guardians of the Galaxy game were confirmed by the official Twitter account, who were asked about movie outfits being included and replied that they would be included, along with “a wide variety” of other outfits from the comics. These outfits, including the MCU ones, are all unlockable for free in-game — although they didn’t reveal how difficult these skins would be to unlock at this time.

The same Twitter account also helpfully said that there would be no microtransactions of any kind in the game. Everything available is unlockable with no further purchase required, at least at launch.

As part of the first Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game reveal at the Square Enix E3 Showcase, developer Eidos Montreal said that there would be pre-order and special edition bonus skins available. Like the MCU outfits, these pre-order skins would also be available for free in the game, and having the bonus content merely unlocks them immediately.

Despite being only just announced, Square Enix has already revealed plenty of details about Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s based on one of the most popular comic runs and many of the songs or performers on the soundtrack have been announced, but unfortunately, Star-Lord is the only playable character in the game — which is a shame, as the rumor is that Drax is an even bigger bad-ass than the MCU version.
