Halo Infinite beta ‘prioritizes longer standing Insiders,’ but many fans disagree

343 Industries has finally revealed that the first Halo Infinite tech preview will begin this week — starting tomorrow, July 29, and running to Sunday, August 1. The Halo Infinite beta invites have gone out to most participants, and according to the team, the Halo Insider sign-up prioritizes “longer standing Insiders” — although many long-term Halo fans disagree with that assertion.

What to do if you haven’t received a Halo Infinite tech preview beta invite

Assuming that fans have already signed up to be in the Insider program, here are the steps to take if a Halo Infinite tech preview invite hasn’t been received:

  • Don’t panic. According to community manager Brian Jarrard, a large volume of emails are being sent out so it’ll take some time to send them out. As of the time of writing, fans are still receiving invites.
  • Check any spam or junk mail folders, or even the ‘promotion’ tab on Gmail as the invite can go to any of these.
  • Sign in on the Halo Insider page and check for new messages or notifications (top right). When the build is ready the invites will start appearing here — so that may even be as late as Thursday, the start date.

If, after all this, an invite is still not received, remember that this is only the first limited Halo Infinite beta and bigger betas are planned for the future.

Brian Jarrard specifically notes that the program is “prioritizing longer standing Insiders and going down the list until we’ve hit our total audience size,” however, a lot of fans are disagreeing with this as many are reporting that they have been in the Halo Insider program for years and haven’t received an invite.

Hopefully, all of these long-term Halo Insiders get invites to the Halo Infinite tech preview, and if not, it’s probably down to there being a lot of people signed up for it — so it’s lucky there are further, bigger betas planned for the future. Of course, some Halo fans have their own theories as to why they didn’t get an invite:

In other Halo Infinite news, Microsoft made the shock announcement at E3 that the game’s multiplayer would be separate and free-to-play, and the first multiplayer season would be themed around Halo Reach.
