iOS 15.1 release date

iOS 15.1 beta is the only place to use iPhone SharePlay right now

Apple’s big iOS 15 update is available now for modern iPhone handsets. It features some notable improvements, though underwhelms in other departments — namely by failing to deliver the anticipated SharePlay feature. Right now, the only way to share music and video on FaceTime is to participate in the iOS 15.1 beta test. Fortunately, there shouldn’t be too long to wait before the public iOS 15.1 release date for iPhone.

What is the public iOS 15.1 release date?

iOS 15.1 release date

iOS 15.1 is available now for Apple beta testers. If the public launch follows past precedent, the iPhone iOS 15.1 release date could be October 2021.

Apple iOS 14 came out in September 2020, with version 14.1 following a month later in October. If the iOS 15 release follows the same update schedule, the public iOS 15.1 launch day will likely arrive in October 2021.

With the California tech giant’s flagship iPhone 13 range of smartphones running iOS 15 out of the box, the company has a vested interest in patching the system software as quickly as possible. That goes especially for the missing SharePlay feature, as it was a large part of the marketing effort to push this new iOS version. Apple is likely looking to counteract any initial disappointment with a quick turnaround; the feature currently being in beta further supports this theory.

SharePlay isn’t the only major iOS 15 selling point missing at launch, though. Customers were expecting to receive iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max ProRes support at launch, though it isn’t happening. This video codec improves the quality of videos shot using the built-in camera, though, unfortunately, users have a wait on their hands.

Speaking of waiting, some iOS users are facing iPhone 13 shipping delays. These delays most commonly impact the iPhone 13 Pro/ProMax and certain iPhone 13 Mini models. Apple is yet to comment on the issue, but it’s almost certainly a case of demand outweighing the launch supply.
