Spider-Man: No Way Home’s post-credits tease the MCU’s future

The Spider-Man: No Way Home post-credits scenes offer some major revelations for the future of the MCU, definitely a full tease of the events of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, and a possible setup for Spider-Man 4. Spider-Man No Way Home post credits

There are two post-credits scenes in Spider-Man: No Way Home, as per usual with most Marvel movies, although these scenes are both a little unique as neither of them feature characters for the next Spider-Man movie. The mid-credits teaser features the surprise appearance of Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom and acts as a direct continuation of the Venom: Let There Be Carnage post-credits scene with a tease of Spider-Man 4. The post-credits scene is a full trailer for the next MCU movie Doctor Strange 2, as was strongly rumored this week.

The Venom scene takes place in a Hawaiian bar and continues the Venom 2 scene with Eddie Brock being transported to the main Marvel universe and wanting to go see Spider-Man. Instead, Eddie gets drunk and is returned home before he can do that — but not before leaving behind a piece of Venom symbiote which will probably head to New York. Tom Hardy will probably never meet Spider-Man, sadly.

The second scene is a trailer for Doctor Strange 2 in May 2022. It continues on from the post-credits scene of WandaVision with Strange meeting Wanda and asking for her help. It features the return of Chiwetel Ejiofor as Mordo, brief appearances by giant monster Gigantos and America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), and concludes with the biggest shock — the appearance by the dark Doctor Strange last seen in the animated What If series finale. Given a few other What If references in Spider-Man: No Way Home — Spider-Man in Strange’s cape, the contained universe — it seems highly likely it is indeed the What If alternate “evil” Strange.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is in US cinemas from December 17. Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness opens May 6 2022.
