PS4 Vs. Xbox One Is “A War That No One Actually Wins,” Says Titanfall Dev

Wars, wars, wars. The debate goes on and on between Microsoft and Sony, with most of the divisive arguments being the lack of Xbox One games that run in 1080p.

It's been a little more than a month since Titanfall launched on Microsoft's next-gen console, but it still can't shake its strange 792p resolution, a point which Titanfall producer Drew McCoy, speaking with Gamespot, feels is overblown and irksome:

It's the console wars. It's Sega does what Nintendon't.

There's going to be games that look better on one or the other. There's going to be exclusives that look better, for whatever reason. And we never set out to engage in the tech war. I feel like that's a war that no one actually wins.

McCoy admits that Respawn Entertainment is still looking at performance issues on Xbox One and more fine-tuning with NVIDIA on the PC version. However, he says that the developer couldn't care less about the spec wars:

At the end of the day we don't really care. People were roasting us because we run at higher than 720p but we're not a solid locked [60fps] yet. And it's like, 'Yeah, well you know what, guess what? The GPU isn't always a thing that limits your frame rate and your performance.' So we hit the highest resolution we could without limiting the GPU.

Is this a solid defense for Respawn Entertainment? Does the console war really matter?
