Sony Pledges Multi-Million Dollar Investment in PSN Exclusives

Each individual platform has its own standout titles. However, some of the most unique are exclusive to the PlayStation Network. That is in part due to Sony's "Pub Fund" initiative, which helps indie developers design and market their titles — something that is sure to be appealing to indie devs who struggle to get proper funding.

Sony has just announced a three-year $20M investment to support the development of PlayStation Network exclusives through the Pub Fund. The investment has Sony "doubling-down on PlayStation Network software", says Brandon Stander, director of PlayStation Network marketing for SCEA. "We anticipate a steady flow of high-quality titles that can’t be found anywhere else."

The first PSN title to debut using the Pub Fund was doublesix's Burn Zombie Burn. The Pub Fund not only helps fund game design and marketing, but also allows developers to publish their games, set their own price, even own the intellectual property rights.

The next batch of titles which are product of the Pub Fund include Eufloria, Okabu, PAYDAY: The Heist, and Papo & Yo. After these titles are released, you can expect plenty more unique titles thanks to this new initiative.
