GameStop: Xbox 720 and PS4 Won’t Come Until 2014

The rumor mills have practically confirmed that Microsoft and Sony are developing the next Xbox and PlayStation as we speak, especially in the wake of the Wii U. Some of us at GR are predicting that they will announce them next year at E3 or some other important conference, and then release them the following year, but according to GameStop, they're dubious:

Management does not expect new hardware consoles from Microsoft and Sony until 2014; however, a successful launch of Nintendo's Wii U in 2012 could add pressure to accelerate a hardware refresh.

Despite the slightly disappointing sales of the Nintendo 3DS, they are excited for Sony's PlayStation Vita:

GameStop is also upbeat on the coming launch of Sony's PlayStation Vita handheld gaming device, which has a $249 price-point within the reach of many gamers.

As for the PlayStation Move launched a year ago, "management indicated more software is needed to maintain sales momentum". That's putting it nicely. Wait, what's the PlayStation Move?
