343 Industries Looking to “Transform How People Experience Halo”

The Halo universe has been expanding to mediums other than gaming at a rapidly increasing rate. Over the years we've seen a slew of novels, a live-action series in Forward Unto Dawn, a whole bunch of toys, and many other forms of Master Chief-branded merchandise.

And it doesn't look like that trend is about to slow down anytime soon. 343 Industries executive producer Kiki Wolfkill has confirmed that the company is looking to expand the Halo universe to as broad an audience as possible, pushing the franchise into as many mediums as it can.

Don't worry, though. The company won't force something if it isn't a logical fit for the series. "We will never do anything that doesn't move the universe forward," Wolfkill said in a Microsoft profile post. "We won't do something for the sake of being in a certain medium."

She then went on to add:

Our next step is to try and make the connections between the game and its linear entertainment aspects even more experiential. I want to transform how people experience 'Halo' in their living rooms and on their PCs…With Xbox One, we have the opportunity to allow people to experience all these different modes of storytelling — game, television, even graphic novels – in the same place and without friction.

Are you interested in the Halo franchise beyond just the games? Have you read any of the novels or purchased any of the toys? What do you think of Ridley Scott's upcoming digital feature, Halo: Nightfall?
