Department store credit cards being one of the worst credit cards out is common knowledge at this point, so surprise, surprise, GameStop is adding its name to the pile.
We all know that GameStop employees are irritably forced to ask customers about pre-orders and to pretend that it isn't a pawn shop that marks up pre-owned games. And they may now be forced to sell you on a new GameStop credit card, a brochure of which was given to Destructoid.
Images of the brochure show that the credit card will have a (un)healthy APR of 26.99%, which is about 4 percentage points higher than even the APR for other retail credit cards. Talk about usury, huh?
Every PowerUp Rewards member has pretty much been pre-approved for the card, so you know some poor sucker will acquire the credit card thinking that the sign-up bonus of 5,000-15,000 PowerUp Rewards Points will matter. According to the materials, there isn't even any bonus PowerUp Rewards Points earned for everyday purchases. Be prepared to pay 10 times (or more) if you pay the minimum on this credit card… for eight years.
Whatever you do, like this slice of pizza, stay far, far away from this.
