Capcom Sues Koei Tecmo for $9.43 Million

Oh, this is not going to end well.

According to files found my the Japanese news site Sankei, Capcom is suing Koei Tecmo on multiple counts of alleged patent infringement, based on a patent the publisher made in 2002, on certain video game functions that seem like everyday features, like disc-based expansions, controller vibrations when enemies are close, and the ability to import content from an old content to a new one.

Capcom is asking the courts to force Tecmo Koei to stop the sale of 50 of Koei Tecmo's titles, including Samurai Warriors: Xtreme Legends. They also demand 5-10% in license fees from the profits that Koei Tecmo has made on those titles.
