Sony has announced that it's planning to launch internet television for its gaming platform by the end of the year.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, SCE president and CEO Andrew House discussed the company's plans to push live an internet TV service for the PlayStation platform before the end of 2014. However, it doesn't just end with television, as the company is also looking to release a service that will bring game streaming to more mobile devices; not just PlayStation Vita. There's no word on a release window for the latter service, though.
It's clear that Sony is looking to expand the PlayStation platform beyond its traditional home console and dedicated gaming handheld. Do you think it's worth the company's time and effort to expand the gaming platform beyond such confines? What about its decision to mix other services, namely internet television, with its gaming division? A wise move or futile endeavor?
