Instead of hosting Spike's Video Game Awards or last year's rebranded VGX Awards, television personality and video game spokesman Geoff Keighley is producing a completely new independent show held in the Las Vegas AXIS Theater.
It's called The Game Awards 2014, and, as one would suspect, the show will feature world premieres as well as appearances from a number of the industry's most recognizable faces, including Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime and Microsoft's Head of Xbox Phil Spencer.
"The Game Awards 2014 will celebrate our collective love of games and the passion we all hold in our hearts for this incredible entertainment medium," Keighley said. "Gaming has never been stronger, and this year we will recognize the fastest-selling launch year in history for new game consoles, the rise of eSports and mobile gaming around the globe, and preview the games that will make 2015 the biggest year yet."
The Game Awards 2014 will air on December 5 at 6pm PT, 9pm ET.
