Dragon’s Dogma 2 Getting Option to Start a New Game ‘When Save Data Already Exists’

When it was released last week, Dragons Dogma 2 didn’t get off to a good start, with fans taking issues with certain aspects of the long-awaited sequel. Since then, developer Capcom has acknowledged some of the complaints and has recently listed some changes that are coming to the game.

Studio thanks fans for their patience

In a post on X, the developer has said it’s making plans to release some patches in the future, some of which will include fixes. The post is accompanied by an image detailing some of the updates and adjustments that are coming.

For starters, one of the big changes that’s coming to Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the implementation of an option to start a new game “when save data already exists.”

This is in reference to one of the things fans have taken against, whereby only one save file can be played, with no option to start again. This change is coming to all platforms, but it’s unclear when updates and patches will begin rolling out.

Capcom has also said it will be adding additional features to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S ports of the game, such as the option to switch motion blur on or off. On top of this, there are plans to improve the quality of DLSS Super Resolution on Steam, as well as fixing an issue whereby models can appear low-quality.

At the time of writing, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a review score of “mixed” on PC, with fans criticizing certain aspects like game performance. Hopefully, Capcom can win players back, especially as this is a sequel that’s been almost 12 years in the making.
