Sora 2, OpenAI‘s revolutionary video generator, is very close to its Android release, just weeks after its iOS launch. The AI video generator and TikTok-style social media platform has already started taking the internet by storm, and a new development hints that it will be on Android very soon.
Here’s all you need to know about it.
Sora 2 AI arrives on Google Play listing ahead of Android release
Weeks after the launch of Sora 2 on iOS, @ArtemR (via Android Police) spotted a listing for Sora 2 on the Google Play Store. Though the download is not yet available, users from the United States of America and Canada can pre-register for the app.
Even on iOS, the app is still in its invite-only phase, keeping it out of mass reach for now. However, it seems only a matter of time before Sora 2 is available to all, iOS and Android alike.
As the app is still limited on iOS, the Android launch could coincide with the mass iOS launch. Of course, some issues come along with mass usage.
Sora and ChatGPT developer OpenAI are still struggling to meet the platform’s demands. CEO Sam Altman recently said that users are creating far more videos than they had initially expected. This means a significant increase in processing costs.
Even in its limited reach, Sora 2 videos have reached the far reaches of the internet. The video-generation model has improved significantly on its predecessor and is generating very realistic videos that are nearly indistinguishable from real videos.
This once again raises ethical and moral questions about video generation. This debate will likely continue for a long time to come. But Android users who are excited to use Sora 2 will not have to wait long now. Stay tuned for more updates.
