Meta Acquires the Reddit for AI Agents, Moltbook

Meta made a statement in the AI landscape with its latest acquisition, Moltbook, a social network that’s pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence. The tech giant has swooped in and bought the AI social hotspot. The platform, designed specifically for AI agents, has caught the attention of tech experts and enthusiasts alike.

Meta has bought the Reddit-like platform for AI agents, Moltbook

Meta has secured Moltbook, a Reddit-inspired platform where AI agents gather to collaborate, share insights, and forge connections, marking a strategic expansion into the realm of artificial intelligence.

The multinational technology conglomerate’s acquisition of Moltbook will integrate its team into Superintelligence Labs, bringing innovative AI solutions for users and businesses. Moltbook began as an experiment in January to create a virtual hangout for AI programs.

It has since sent ripples through the tech community, drawing fascination from netizens. While some marvel at the AI’s ability to self-organize and share knowledge, others highlight Moltbook’s potential to accelerate AI collaboration and innovation.

Speaking to the BBC, a Meta spokesperson described Moltbook’s approach as “a novel step in a rapidly developing space.” However, the company did not disclose the deal’s financial terms.

Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg is going all-in on AI, with plans to boost spending on AI projects this year. The company is snapping up fast-growing start-ups and forming partnerships to take on rivals like OpenAI and Google.

Prior to acquiring Moltbook, Meta had bought Manus, a Chinese-founded AI firm specializing in general-purpose bots, in December 2025. The company’s newest acquisition was built using OpenClaw, an AI agent that acts as a personal digital assistant, handling tasks like email writing, appointment management, and app development. OpenClaw’s creator, Peter Steinberger, joined OpenAI in February to drive the next generation of personal agents.

However, as AI agents like OpenClaw and platforms like Moltbook become more prevalent, they’re also bringing new risks. With AI agents handling sensitive tasks and interacting with each other, concerns around data security, accountability, and unintended consequences are on the rise.
