The Most Interesting Games of E3

I don't always try to get work done in advance, but when I do, it backfires like a mother.

The Last Guardian

The team behind ICO and Shadow of the Colossus never fails to excite me.  Seeing the new footage, albeit short, was riveting. This is definitely among my most anticipated games right now. After being absent from the Tokyo Game Show, some were worried, but the wait appears to have been worth —

[Update: It has come to my attention that this game was not at E3. This article was written before E3 and based upon the fact that there'd be no reason to not show the game. It's been something like two years since we've seen any sort of progress, and assuming these are professionals here, a lack of E3 presence after so long would be inexcusable. Even an announcement such as "It won't be at E3" would be taken as a hilarious joke. I retroactively apologize.]

Final Fantasy Versus XIII

What a show-stopper this was. Patience is a virtue, and Nomura's crew deserves credit for doing what Dr. Dre recommends by "takin' my time to perfect the beat". After being absent from the Tokyo Game Show, some were worried, but the wait appears to have been worth —

Agent

Hell yeah, Rockstar North is making a stealth/espionage game with a cold war setting? Count me in. The makers of Grand Theft Auto showed why their games generate so much instant hype with one of the most intense trailers in recent memory, and a demo that stuck with me long after I left the show floor. Back at the hotel typing up our reports, every single member of the crew agreed that this ga —

Over three years since its official unveiling and even longer since the beginning of its development, this should have been a lock.]

Chrono Break

There is a huge audience and demand for it. Ten years gone by, this sequel is overdue. I am also being a total dick by including a game that was never technically announced in this article.]

Mega Man Legends 3

[Update: Still bitter!]

The Last of Us

Finally, a game about my everyday life. People have played The Sims for years and years to mirror their own lives or give them a glimpse of something they want to be, whereas I've been left high and dry. I think I speak for all of us who've been through multiple apocalypses that this is the closest thing to a game for us as there's ever been. It won't be out until at least 2013, but that's fine, because we know we'll still be alive then. I mean, surviving is kinda what we do.

[Update: Was this game at E3? It was? Okay. Cripes. Forgive me for being a little bit gun shy on these picks, yeah?]

Stay positive, my friends.
