days gone vs mortal kombat 11

The Daily Vote | Did you buy Days Gone or Mortal Kombat 11?

The Daily Vote is a daily community feature in which GameRevolution’s readers choose the victor of a hotly-contested topic. Today we ask the community which new big release they’ve been playing: Days Gone or Mortal Kombat 11?

Days Gone and Mortal Kombat 11 have both been released, with NetherRealm and Bend Studios offering players two very different games to enjoy. Days Gone is a brand new IP placing players in a violent, zomb—sorry, “Freaker” infested post-apocalyptic world, while Mortal Kombat 11 is the latest entry in one of the most beloved franchises of all time. But which game did you choose to play over the weekend?

Vote in the Twitter poll below, and we’ll reveal the winning game in tomorrow’s The Daily Vote!

Paul Tamburro, executive editor: “I have both. I haven’t managed to play Mortal Kombat 11 yet, but I sunk a couple of hours into Days Gone and I don’t think it’s going to be a game I stick with for long. I’m just not interested in its by-the-numbers gameplay loop; I can craft and raid bandit camps in every other open-world game, so what does Days Gone offer that’s any different to everything else I’ve played?”

Jason Faulkner, senior editor: “I played both of them. I really liked MK11 for everything except the grindy, random unlock system, but that alone is enough to simmer my enthusiasm. Days Gone has a really great last 15 hours or so, but you have to get through the first 10 hours to get to it. Both games had the potential to be real blockbusters in my eyes, but had enough flaws that I’m just looking forward to the next round of big releases.”

Mack Ashworth, lead editor: “I have both Mortal Kombat 11 and Days Gone, but I’ve only played the latter. “Too many games” is something I often repeat, and that is absolutely applicable to the past couple of months.”

Bradley Russell, news editor: “Regrettably, I won’t be buying either. Mortal Kombat 11 looks like incredible fun, but I only ever get so much mileage out of a fighting game, mostly because I suck online. Days Gone, meanwhile, looks like a sheep wrapped up in a AAA PS4 exclusive’s clothing. It does and says the right things, but it doesn’t feel like it truly belongs. Besides, I’ve got a helluva backlog to clear through before I even think about picking it up.”

Michael Leri, features editor: “I got Mortal Kombat 11 for review and have been loving it. It’s consuming me and all I want to do is play it, figure out the Krypt, and get more gear. I’m going to play this for a long, long time and I’m looking forward to every minute even if no one at GameRevolution wants to play with me.”
