GameSir has quickly risen to become one of the top names in mobile gaming controllers and now it’s looking to build on that success with the G8+. This wireless pad includes Hall Effect control, a 6-axis gyroscope, customizable components, and expanded compatibility for both mobile phones and Nintendo Switch. It has the potential to be another big hit, but how has it fared during real-world testing? Here is my GameSir G8+ review.
Hall Effect advantage
“Hall Effect” is the word that many enthusiast gamers are looking for when it comes to controller upgrades. Sticks and triggers incorporating Hall Effect components are proven to enjoy a longer lifespan and are much less likely to develop stick drift. This is a well-documented issue for those playing with Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers.
Thankfully, due to the G8+’s wide range of support, for both phones, tablets, Nintendo Switch, and PC, this mobile controller can be the single solution gamers need to avoid stick drift across all of their main systems.
Enhanced features
Additionally, for those playing on compatible devices like the Nintendo Switch, the G8+’s 6-axis gyroscope for motion controls and dual motors for vibration feedback help to deliver a console-level controller experience.
After testing the G8+ across multiple games, both competitive and casual, on my phone, tablet, Switch, and PC, I’m pleased to say that the controller’s extendable design works well to cater to many different device shapes and sizes. It’s very simple to adjust and holds devices in place well enough.
Customize the experience
Customization is also worth mentioning, as users can swap out components to better suit their play style or add some flair. It’s also great to see back buttons whose functions can be customized to provide a similar experience to a high-end Scuf controller, helping massively in competitive games.
Potential limitations
Though much more comfortable than most of the other mobile controllers I’ve tested, GameSir’s opting for console-level comfort has resulted in the G8+ being a little bulky and not as portable as the competition. It’s not a major issue, but it’s worth noting for those who are used to pocketing their gamepads in their pants rather than storing them in a backpack.
Like many of these mobile controllers which expand to accommodate many different devices, build quality can be a concern. I do wonder if the G8+ can stand the test of time, especially when used heavily outside of the home where drops and other accidents are more likely to happen. Of course, that’s up to the user to be careful, but I wouldn’t say it’s super robust-feeling.

Final Verdict
At $79.99, the GameSir G8+ is a versatile mobile controller that enhances gaming across multiple devices. With features like Hall Effect components and customization options, it offers a solid gaming experience. While it may not be the most portable choice, it provides good value for those looking to upgrade their setup.
