MIXX Analog System 5 Review

MIXX Analog System 5 Review

With its Analog System 5, MIXX aims to provide a complete solution for those looking to get into vinyl or upgrade from their older setup. As someone that has always been interested in records, I’m very happy to be testing a unit like this, as it bypasses the umm-ing and ahh-ing of choosing which combination of player and speakers to choose, and figuring out if they work together in harmony. The Analog System 5 could be a shortcut to greatness, but how does it perform in the real world? Here is my review.

All you need

MIXX Analog System 5 Review

Though targeting a relatively budget price point for the entire setup, it’s clear that MIXX has carefully considered the components it includes in the bundle. The Analog 5 turntable utilizes an industry-leading Audio-Technica cartridge, incorporates Bluetooth, and has true hi-fi specs. The Analog 5 supports speeds between 33-45 rpm, meaning listeners can easily adjust to the right speed.

As a beginner to the world of vinyl, I was thrilled by how simple the Analog 5 was to set up. I had been anticipating much more fiddling to get the right speed, but I needn’t have worried.

When it comes to the speakers, MIXX provides two wireless units with 50W RMS power. These connect to the record player easily enough and boast RCA connections, Optical Input, and Bluetooth. An included remote control is a nice touch and means you won’t need to get up to make changes.

Let’s get listening

MIXX Analog System 5 Review

As mentioned earlier, for beginners like myself the Analog System 5 really delivers an all-in-one solution that is super simple to set up and get going. With record players and vinyl potentially being seen as intimidating “old tech,” it’s nice to see a bundle like this.

Once set up, it’s time to start listening. There’s something about the intentionality of picking a certain record and taking the time to place it within the player. It’s a nuance that has been lost in a world where mobile phones can give us access to anything at any time and with next to no effort. Physically selecting an album to play makes you appreciate it all the more.

Of course, for a record player to be a true success, it needs to have great speakers attached to it. Thankfully, with the Analog System 5, MIXX has chosen excellent-sounding speakers that please across all frequencies. I’m especially impressed with the mids that sound very clear but without the sometimes harsh nasally effect that can come through.

Does it what it says on the box

MIXX Analog System 5 Review

During my hours spent listening to the MIXX Analog System 5, I didn’t come across any issues in terms of sound quality. I had zero issues with the arm, as everything played smoothly. Every track sounded perfectly rendered with no odd variances.

While knowledgeable record player fans will no doubt be able to put together a better bespoke bundle under £300, I think MIXX is offering a great product that will appeal to those looking to just buy something great and get listening.
