Lemokey P2 HE Keyboard Review

The Lemokey P2 HE is yet another Hall-effect bolstered keyboard from the company. Clearly magnetic switches are a big deal, as Keychron/Lemokey is putting an awful lot of effort into overhauling its line-up with this new must-have feature. Happily, it’s not just Hall-effect switches that make the P2 HE stand out from the crowd. Here is my review

All about the switches

Lemokey P2 HE Keyboard Review

As usual with HE keyboards, the main feature highlight is the Gateron double-rail Hall-effect magnetic switches. These allow for a huge amount of customization and multiple functions to be assigned to each switch. What does this mean in terms of gaming enhancements? Well, players can take advantage of superfast strafing and rapid trigger, especially in shooting titles.

The analog functionality also makes these switches great for racing games, where the pressure on the switch can control how aggressive a turn is.

More than just Hall-effect

Beyond the switches, the P2 HE is an impressively built piece of kit. It’s hefty, thanks to its full-metal casing. Within, there’s a gasket mount and layers of acoustic foam.

Getting connected is achieved through one of three ways: USB-C, 2.4 GHz, or Bluetooth. Once connection is achieved, users can further customize the keyboard using Lemokey’s web-based launcher.

The right size

Lemokey P2 HE Keyboard Review

The P2 HE is a good size for gaming applications. It’s small enough that it doesn’t get in the way of a frantically swung mouse, and so is ideally for those who play a lot of first-person shooters.

As with all of the HE keyboards I’ve tested, the main downside of the P2 HE is the sound and feel of the switches. While they achieve their intended function, offering flawless Hall-effect functionality, they don’t sound or feel particularly pleasant to actuate. Sadly, this is just the way things are right now with Hall-effect switches.

Final Verdict

At $169.99, the Lemokey P2 HE keyboard offers a solid mix of features for those interested in Hall-effect technology. Its build quality, connectivity options, and customization tools make it a practical option for a wide range of users. The usual limitations of Hall-effect switches remain, but those who prioritize functionality over feel may find it a suitable fit.
