In a rush to deal with Tommy and chase after Ellie, Abby misses a fatal shot on Tommy, allowing him to eventually recover once Abby and Lev have left the building.

We see Tommy at the end of the game, where he visits Ellie and Dina at their house. He has the location of Abby and wants Ellie to go after her for revenge. Tommy says that he can’t go after her himself, due to his injuries. Initially refusing to chase after Abby, Ellie disappoints Tommy and they separate on bad terms.

If a The Last of Us 3 ever gets made, it’s possible that surviving characters like Tommy will make an appearance. As a surviving member of the original cast of characters, it would be a bit of a shock to see his journey end on the sour note we experience in The Last of Us 2.
