Netflix Use on Game Consoles Losing Ground to Other Devices

While streaming content from Netflix via video game consoles is still the preferred method to consume media through the service, it isn't the same dominating force it once was.

Thanks to the rise in popularity of Smart TVs and small dedicated streaming boxes like Roku, Apple TV, and Chromecast, the overall percentage of subscribers who use their game consoles as Netflix players is on the decline.

This information comes from a study conducted by market research firm GfK, stating that "reports of watching Netflix on TV through a videogame system have dropped to 43% — down 5 percentage points from 2013, and almost 20 points below the 2011 level (62%)."

Do you think this trend will continue? Are game consoles not going to be the definitive media hubs that Microsoft and Sony hoped they'd be?
