Spiderman 2: How to Change Weather

Knowing how to change weather in Spiderman 2 would allow users to tune how New York City looks. There is a particular mood to how rain or sunshine affect the tone, which Insomniac Games uses at certain points in the campaign to reflect the narrative. So can you change the weather in Spiderman 2?

Can you change the weather in Spiderman?

It is not currently possible to change the weather in Spiderman 2. As was previously stated, the weather is locked to whatever the story beat is and can’t be changed through the menu. This means that New York City is perpetually stuck in sunny weather with clear blue skies. Insomniac has not stated whether or not it will be adding the ability to let players change the weather to the game. It has, however, responded to a tweet asking for such changes.

However, there will eventually be a way around this for those who want to use certain weather types for Photo Mode background. The studio noted that it is looking into adding in a feature that lets players replay missions.

And since the weather is tied to certain missions, it would be possible to jump into a particular mission with the desired weather effects and get some pictures. Granted, this still is a roundabout way to change the weather and only for those who want it to exploit for Photo Mode purposes.

It is possible that this gets patch in in the future, as this seems in line with other quality-of-life features Insomniac could add and is one that has been in the team’s other Spiderman games. Spiderman: Miles Morales gave players full control of the weather and time of day. Players could go in and make the weather clear or have light snow or heavy snow. It was also possible to make it clear or snowy during the day, night, at sunset, or with clouds.
