The Epic Games Store will probably never take Steam’s place as the default digital distribution source for PC games. However, it’s a great way to snag a wide variety of free games. Tactical RPG Spelldrifter is the latest free game on the Epic Games Store. Players can claim it at no cost starting today and ending at 11 AM on September 14. Epic also revealed the platform’s next free game.

Developed by Free Range Games, who assisted on Oddworld: Soulstorm, Spelldrifter is a hybrid turn-based tactical RPG and deck-building game. The game features five playable characters, with players creating customized decks for each. Meanwhile, they control their party through 3D maps in a turn-based system reminiscent of Baldur’s Gate 3 or XCOM. According to Free Range, Spelldrifter combines the best of both genres and forces players to approach deck-building from a new angle.
Spelldrifter mostly flew under the radar when Free Range released it last year. Still, if the premise seems interesting, Epic Games Store users can try it out for no cost but their time.

PC gamers might also want to take a look at Epic Games‘ next free game, Jutsu Games’ 911 Operator. Released in 2017, this award-winning indie simulation game throws players into the stressful role of a 911 dispatcher.
