The Evil Within 2: How to Get the Shotgun

The Evil Within 2 shotgun is a potent weapon and is a definite upgrade over your first pistol. Unlike some of the other weapons you’ll pick up along the way, shotgun ammo is relatively plentiful, which means you’ll want to get it as soon as possible.

To obtain the shotgun, you’ll have to begin the first sidequest in the game, though you don’t have to complete it. You can start the process of getting the weapon during chapter 3, and we recommend you pick it up early.

The Evil Within 2 Market

Once you get to the first safe house and exit back into the town, you’ll be able to use your communicator to lock onto resonances. The one with the girl crying is your primary objective, but there’s another you can pick up on with two Mobius soldiers talking. When you lock onto it, you can check your map for a green circle that shows you where you need to go.

Set a waypoint on your map and head towards the green circle. Your best bet is to stealth past the church and sneak behind the building near your objective. The street in front of your destination, Krimson’s Supermarket, is flooded with The Lost and they’re not worth tangling with yet (though there is an excellent item near them, that’s for another guide).

The Evil Within 2 322 Cedar Ave

Near a dumpster, you’ll see the shadowy shapes that indicate a Residual Memory. Pull out your communicator and tune in and you’ll see the two Mobius officers conversation. Once you’ve listened to where they’re going next, you’ll get two new green circles on your map. The closer one to the northeast is where you want to go.

Once you arrive at the waypoint, you’ll find yourself at a house at 322 Cedar Avenue. You’ll know you’re in the right place when you see the dead Mobius officer on the walkway near the door. Enter the house and go towards the back until you reach a utility room. You’ll find a Residual Memory in there, and a trap door leading to a computer. You can use this computer to transport to The Marrow: Armory.

The Evil Within 2 Computer

Once you’ve entered the armory, you’ll exit the room into a hall with two elevators at the end. Near one of the lifts is an enemy, but even though she looks like a standard Lost, she’s not. This is likely to be your first encounter with a Hysteric, and they’re a lot tougher than regular foes. Your best bet is to sneak up on her until you can make a stealth attack. This won’t take her out, but it’ll damage her. You can then take her down with a few pistol shots.

Head through the door and then crouch down and enter the hole. On the other side, you’ll find a door that’s locked with a wave puzzle. This is a pretty easy one to solve. You just have to rotate the analog sticks (or equivalent controls) until the green wave lines up with the red one.

Once you solve the puzzle, you gain access to the armory. There are a few useful items in here, but the best is in the big case in the corner. When you open it, you’ll find the Sawed-Off-Shotgun. To leave The Morrow: Armory, all you have to do is retrace your steps (be careful of new enemies) and exit back to 322 Cedar Avenue through the computer.
