Overwatch League Teams Tier Guide: Who is the Best?

With the start of the Overwatch League only a day away, it’s only natural to want a rundown of all 12 teams that will be participating in the inaugural season for the league. Unlike other popular sports leagues like the NFL, teams in Blizzard’s official esports league lacks the notoriety of popular brands.

For more info on everything from where and how to watch matches to the Overwatch League app, check out our complete overview guide here.

As such, it can be hard to decide who to root for. Even worse, it can make betting even more challenging to do than with other sports. With a robust unofficial Overwatch fantasy league that you can already join, you’ll want the best chances you can get. Thankfully, there was a preseason last month that gives us a pretty solid idea of who is the best right now in the Overwatch League.

Who is the Best in the Overwatch League?

There are a few teams that everyone should keep an eye on. Obviously, the top three teams currently are Dallas Fuel, Los Angeles Valiant, and Seoul Dynasty with Dynasty being the current pick to win the season overall. Since none of those three teams have played each other yet, but this week will reveal a lot.

This is because Dallas Fuel is going up against both Valiant and Dynasty, so we will have a better idea of where each team stands at the top. Beyond them, though, there are a few other notable teams. Both the London Spitfire and New York Excelsior are teams that can potentially go toe-to-toe with the best, while there are also some potential dark horses.

These would be San Francisco Shock and Los Angeles Gladiators. The Shock had the advantage (or disadvantage, depending on how you look at it) of playing in more games than anyone except the Dynasty. They won against the Florida Mayhem and was pretty even with top tier team Los Angeles Valiant, so it remains to be seen if they are the dark horse.

The Los Angeles Gladiators, on the other hand, got a real upset win against the London Spitfire, a team that crushed the Shock in one of its losses. They are a team that everyone should keep an eye on to be the underdog for the season.
