The war between the two biggest battle royale titles wages on, with both games attracting a huge number of players. Compared to other online titles out there, which span across both PC and console, Fortnite and PUBG are in a whole other league. However, their similarities often have them butting heads, with players constantly comparing one to the other. “Which is the better battle royale game?” is a question we hear all of the time. However, today’s questions look at how many gamers are actually playing each title. How many people play Fortnite? And how many people play PUBG?
Fortnite vs PUBG: How Many People Play Fortnite?
Compared to the PC version of PUBG, which uses Steam and makes player counts easily trackable, the Fortnite player count is a lot more difficult to gauge. We have to depend upon Epic Games being open about the title’s performance. Thankfully, the developer has been willing to share some player stats.
The most recent highest concurrent player count, across consoles and PC, came to 3.4 million. That’s 3.4 million players all online, all at the same time!
The large number of concurrent users actually caused many issues for Epic Games, which wasn’t prepared for such a demand. Hopefully they’re ready for the next big milestone!
Fortnite vs PUBG: How Many People Play PUBG?
Taking a look at the PUBG player count is a lot easier… Well, at least it is when looking at the PC CCU. Steam Charts is a great resource for seeing how popular games are. This can be used to check out a multiplayer title before buying, to make sure lobbies will be populated. Or, in the case of PUBG, it’s nice to just gaze open-mouthed at the ridiculous stats!
PUBG on PC has an all-time peak concurrent player count of 3.2 million. The most recent 24-hour peak reached 2.4 million players.
On Xbox, where things are much less transparent, we know that the game hit 3 million total players back in January (via Forbes).
It looks like the two are pretty evenly matched, for the time being.
