Fortnite Free Weekly Challenges: What Challenges Require a Fortnite Season 5 Battle Pass?

The times they are a-changing. The introduction of Fortnite free weekly challenges in Fortnite season 5 is the biggest shake-up to the game’s task system since the introduction of the Battle Pass in season 2. No longer do you have to purchase the game’s premium add-on to get your hands on some goodies, skins, and other rewards. That’s because there’s going to be a handful of free challenges every week. No Battle Pass needed.

Fortnite Free Weekly Challenges: What Challenges Require a Fortnite Season 5 Battle Pass?

As per the Fortnite 5.0 patch notes, the seven weekly challenges will be split into two groups: free and those that require the Fortnite season 5 Battle Pass as usual. Out of those seven, four weekly challenges will require the Battle Pass. I imagine the more complex challenges, such as treasure maps and those that require a bit of traversal across the map, will be the ones that remain rooted to the Battle Pass.

Fortnite Free Weekly Challenges: What Challenges Will Be Free?

If my maths is correct (and I sure hope that’s the case), there will be three Fortnite free weekly challenges every single week. Expect simpler tasks such as week 9’s use a shopping cart, or the likes of skydiving through rings to make up the majority of the free challenges, especially as they only offer 5 Battle Stars compared to the 10 Battle Stars from harder challenges.

However, at this moment in time, it’s all conjecture. The one thing we know for sure is that there will be three free challenges every week on every platform. Fill your boots.

Fortnite Free Weekly Challenges: Progressive Challenges

Progressive challenges, challenges that previously lasted the span of an entire season and would take a helluva lot of grinding to accomplish, are now available to be completed at any time, in any season, for the same XP reward as if you were to complete it in a single season. How’s that for a bonus, F2P players?
