Pokemon Let’s Go Gym Order – How to Beat Them

Battling and taking on Gym leaders to collect their badges is a staple in all Pokemon games and the latest Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee and Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu addition is no different. The Pokemon Let’s Go gym order is the same as the original games but if you’re not too sure or you want to know some information on just which Pokemon you can expect to face read on.

Pokemon Let’s Go Gym Order #1 – Pewter City

The Pewter city gym is the first gym in the Pokemon Let’s Go Gym order. Pewter City is the third town you’ll encounter on your Pokemon journey and it’s where you’ll face off against Brock, the rock type leader.

His gym can be found by walking to the north of Pewter City, then heading left and then down again to bypass the ledge from the bottom. You’ll need to have a water or grass-type Pokemon on hand to be allowed entry. Bellsprout is commonly available before this gym so make sure to hold onto one.

There are two trainers you can defeat at this gym before facing Brock if you want to gain some experience first.

Brock has two Pokemon and they’re both rock-types, Geodude who’s level 11 and Onix who’s level 12.

Pokemon Let’s Go Gym Order #2 – Cerulean City

The Cerulean city gym is the second gym in the Pokemon Let’s Go Gym order. Cerulean City is the fourth town you’ll encounter on your Pokemon journey and it’s where you’ll face off against Misty, the water-type leader.

This gym can be found by walking to the centre of Cerulean City, just passed the Pokemon centre. You’ll need to have a level 15 Pokemon on hand to be allowed entry. If you need to level up a bit first head north of the city to meet more trainers.

There are three trainers you can defeat at this gym before facing Misty if you want to gain some experience first.

Misty has two Pokemon and they’re both water-types, Psycduck who’s level 18 and Starmie who’s level 19.

Your partner Pokemon should know an electric move (if you have Eevee head to the Pokemon center and talk to the man in the lion tamer outfit) which will help you greatly in this gym. If not grass-types which are catchable prior to this gym are good picks to have on you.

Pokemon Let’s Go Gym Order #3 – Vermillion City

The Vermillion city gym is the third gym in the Pokemon Let’s Go Gym order. Vermillion City is the fifth town you’ll encounter on your Pokemon journey and it’s where you’ll face off against Lt. Surge, the electric-type leader.

This gym can be found by walking to the left and south of the city but it’ll be blocked off until you have the special technique chop down. Make sure you go on the S.S. Anne to the south of town beforehand (for a full run down check out how to get all the secret moves).

To get through the electric barrier you’ll need to hit two switches located in the bins in this room. The switches will be next to each other so once you find one, check spots adjacent to it.

There are four trainers you can defeat at this gym before facing Lt. Surge if you want to gain some experience first.

Lt. Surge has three Pokemon and they’re all electric-types, Voltorb who’s level 25, Magnemite who’s level 25, and Raichu who’s level 26.

Pokemon Let’s Go Gym Order #4 – Celadon City

The Celadon City gym is the fourth gym in the Pokemon Let’s Go Gym order. Celadon City is the seventh town you’ll encounter on your Pokemon journey and it’s where you’ll face off against Erika, the grass-type leader.

This gym can be found by walking to the middle and south of the city and using the special technique chop down then walking to the left.

Erika’s gym is laid out like a maze and you’ll need to use chop down to navigate to her.

The Fuchsia city gym is the fifth gym in the Pokemon Let’s Go Gym order. Fuchsia City is likely the eighth town you’ll encounter on your Pokemon journey and it’s where you’ll face off against Koga, the poison-type leader.

This gym can be found by heading just a bit left of the Pokemon Center.

Koga’s gym is also like a maze but with invisible walls which reveal themselves as the smoke falls.

There are six trainers you can defeat at this gym before facing Koga if you want to gain some experience first.

The Saffron city gym is the third gym in the Pokemon Let’s Go Gym order. Saffron City is likely the ninth town you’ll encounter on your Pokemon journey and it’s where you’ll face off against Sabrina, the Psychic-type leader.

To get into Saffron City head to the shops in Celadon City and Brock will give you some tea. Then make your way back to the guard post between Celadon and Lavender town and the guard will take the tea and let you through. You’ll also need to clear out Team Rocket and have a level 45 Pokemon to show before you can access this gym.

Sabrina’s gym has teleporting platforms you’ll need to stand on to reach the gym leader.

There are six trainers you can defeat at this gym before facing Sabrina if you want to gain some experience first.

To get to Cinnabar Island surf south from Palette Town until you reach the island. Then you’ll need to explore the burned building in town until you find the secret key before you can access this gym.

Blaine’s gym has a series of quizzes, answer correctly to avoid fights but if you want experience then there are four trainers you can battle if you answer incorrectly before facing the gym leader.

The Viridian City gym is the third gym in the Pokemon Let’s Go Gym order. Viridian City is actually the second town you’ll encounter on your Pokemon journey and it’s here you need to return to face off against Giovanni, the Ground-type leader.

To get to Viridian City head north from Palette Town. You’ll meet your friendly rival who says the gym is closed. Head to Palette town to chat to Oak, then go back to the gym – it should now be open.
