Simply put, The Division 2 red item feature means that you cannot pick them up. This is because your inventory is already full of the item you’re trying to collect.

For example, you may see a glowing red grenade or armor piece lying on the ground after a firefight. You want to pick it up but, alas, you cannot. This is showing you that you already have a full collection of grenades on you, or that your armor is at 100 percent strength.

The Division 2 Red Item | How can I pick them up?

The Division 2 Red Item

Well, by dropping an item or using them more regularly in combat. If you haven’t been using your ammo, grenades, or other consumable items, then you’ll always carry a full pack of them around with you.

Additionally, if you’ve repaired your armor after a battle with an enemy faction, you won’t be able to pick up and replace the armor you already have on you. There’s always the chance to collect spare armor parts, as well as other items, that you can break down into crafting materials. We’ve outlined more about crafting in this handy guide, should you want to know more.

If your hands are full of any type of item though, you simply won’t be able to pick more up. You’ll have to drop something in order to get The Division 2 red item, or head back to your Base of Operations to dump some gear first. Bear in mind that the items may be gone upon your return though, if you choose the latter option.
