Control PC Requirements | Minimum and recommended system specs

The next game from Remedy, the creators of Max Payne and Alan Wake, is Control, and is finally set to launch later this month, on August 29. If you are planning on picking the game up for PC, you’ll need to know all about the Control PC requirements. This guide will go through both the minimum and recommended PC specifications, so you can check to see if your hardware will be able to run it when the game releases. These requirements have changed a lot recently, so make sure you check again if you have previously.

Control PC Requirements | Minimum specifications

If you’ve been planning on playing Remedy’s latest game Control on PC or laptop, then you may have been paying attention to the recently released system requirements for the game, as posted on the Epic Games Store. We previously covered these requirements, but they have since been changed. Developer Remedy took to Twitter earlier today to post a new set of minimum and recommended specs, which you can see below.

To install and play Control, you will need the 64-bit version of Windows 7 with Direct X 11 installed. It is also recommended that you have 8 GB of ram available. These are the only two requirements that haven’t been lowered significantly. While the previous minimum settings required an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or better to play the game, which was extremely high, that’s now been replaced with a much less stressful 780. However, it should also be noted that an internet connection is required to download the game from the Epic Games Store. Here is the full list of minimum specifications for the game, and what they were changed from:

  • OS: Windows 7, 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-4690 or AMD FX-4350 (previously Intel Core i5-7500 / AMD Ryzen 3 1300X or better)
  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 or AMD Radeon R9 280x (previously Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 / AMD RX580 or better)
  • Ram: 8 GB
  • DirectX: DX11
  • Additional Features: Widescreen support 21:9 / Remappable controls / Uncapped frame-rate/ G-Sync/ Freesync support

Control PC Requirements | Recommended specifications

If your main platform for gaming is the PC, more than likely, you will be able to hit those minimum specifications no problem. However, if you want to play the game as intended, you may need something with a little more power. While the new Recommended specs from Remedy are a lot more reasonable than the previous ones, you’ll still need a decent PC.

It is recommended that you use the 64-bit version of Windows 10 with Direct X 11 or 12 installed to download and run the game. To ensure the smoothest performance when playing Control, you’re going to need 16 GB of RAM, which is still the same as the previous specs. An Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060, AMD Radeon RX 580 or better graphics card is much better than the expensive 1080Ti. For fancy ray-tracing however, you’ll need at least an RTX 2060. Here are the recommended specifications in full:

  • OS: Windows 10, 64-bit
  • Processor: (previously Intel Core i5-8600K / AMD Ryzen 7 2700X or better)
  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660/1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580 (previously Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080Ti / AMD Radeon VII or better)
  • For Ray-Tracing: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060
  • Ram: 16 GB
  • DirectX: DX11 / DX 12
  • Additional Features: Widescreen support 21:9 / Remappable controls / Uncapped frame-rate/ G-Sync/ Freesync support
