Difficulty stacks, so beating Impossible will complete the lower difficulties Hard, Normal, and Casual. Play the game first on Normal and enjoy the game in co-op or with chapter select on the higher difficulties. You'll likely collect over half of the logs, parts, artifacts, etc on this Normal playthrough. Once you go through on NG+ you should take your time and look for what's left over, but also resources to craft supplies, ammo, and upgrades for your suit and weapon. Dead Space 3's New Game+ modes are difficult, but fun.
