If you’re anything like us, you should have fond memories of booting Halo up on your Xbox with a few friends and gathering around the TV to play a few rounds of local split-screen multiplayer. Will there be Halo: MCC PC split-screen? The short answer: Not at launch, it seems.

During a Reddit AMA around six months ago, “ske7ch,” the community director at 343 Industries answered many questions regarding the Halo Master Chief Collection PC port. One such question posed by Redditor MineXide directly asked: “will there be local split-screen multiplayer/campaign?” Ske7ch’s response was as follows:

Halo: MCC PC Split-Screen

He explained that split-screen on PC “is tricky,” and that “the team is still looking at what can be supported.” While this doesn’t outright say that there will be no split-screen in MCC on PC, it does suggest that perhaps it won’t be there for the game’s launch, at least.

We’re imagining that the developers are ensuring that the port of the singleplayer and online multiplayer of the first release, Halo Reach, is as good as it can be. We would love to see split-screen multiplayer and co-op on the Master Chief Collection PC port, but we’re not expecting to see it right away. Hopefully, either Microsoft or 343 Industries can confirm split-screen multiplayer in MCC on PC sooner, rather than later.
