Destiny 2 Forge Ignition Activity | How to access and complete Black Armory forges in Shadowkeep

The launch of Destiny 2: Shadowkeep and Destiny 2: New Light likely brought in many players who missed some of the game’s Year 2 content. This includes the Black Armory, a seasonal content drop that added new quests, gear, and activities into Destiny 2. One of the Black Armory’s most significant additions is the forge ignition activity, which is required to obtain several Black Armory weapons, such as the powerful exotic Fusion Rifle, Jotunn. This Destiny 2 forge ignition activity guide discusses how to access the Volundr, Gofannon, Izanami, and Bergusia forges in Shadowkeep and how to complete the activity itself.

Destiny 2 how to access forge ignition activity

The launch of the Shadowkeep expansion changed quite a bit about Destiny 2’s systems, including the way players access forges. When they were first introduced, forges had to be unlocked through various objectives and were then accessible within specific destinations, and forging specific Black Armory weapons would require players to access certain forges. In Destiny 2: Shadowkeep, all forges are automatically unlocked for everyone, but with a catch: Only one forge is available at a time.

To access the forge ignition activity, head into the EDZ destination map and find the forge icon in the lower left corner. Selecting the icon will match you up with two other Guardians and send you into the ignition activity, Strike-style. The available forge rotates daily, so if you’re doing a quest that requires a particular forge, you’ll have to wait for it to show up. Even if a given day’s forge takes place on some other destination, it will always be accessed in the EDZ destination map. Starting the Gofannon force activity, for example, will put you in a space on Nessus, but it’s still access through the EDZ.

Destiny 2 forge ignition activity defense

Once you’ve launched a forge ignition, the activity itself is fairly simple. During consecutive waves of enemies, you’ll have to kill glowing enemies with orange health bars. Doing so spawns Radiant Battery pick-ups. Grab these when they drop and throw them into the floating forge structure, marked on your HUD when you’re holding a battery. Once you throw 20 batteries into the forge (before the timer runs out), you’ll do the same thing again for a second wave, which will spawn the forge boss. To complete the activity, kill the boss before time runs out.
