Death Stranding DOOMS Birthday

Death Stranding DOOMS Birthday | Does date of birth matter?

As soon as you boot up the game for the first time, you’ll be hit with a seemingly important decision to make: your Death Stranding DOOMS birthday. “Does date of birth matter in Death Stranding?” is one of the first crazy questions you’ll be asking yourself. The game seems to tease that certain star signs have an increased power level when it comes to DOOMS, but is that really the case? Here’s what you need to know about Sam’s date of birth and any real impact it has

Does date of birth matter in Death Stranding?

Death Stranding DOOMS Birthday

At the start of Death Stranding, the player is told that “Higher level of DOOMS abilities have been observed in those born under constellations such as Cancer, Pisces, Cetus, Delphinus, and Gigas.” You’re told this just after inputting a birthday, which can be very annoying if that date of birth falls outside of the listed star signs. Players looking to optimize their build and ensure Sam has the best available abilities may even be tempted to start the game again.

From our testing across several save files, there doesn’t appear to be a clear advantage of having a date of birth that falls within the “more powerful” star signs, with Sam remaining at the same DOOMS level, in that he can sense BTs, but not see them without a BB. Sam is still a repatriate, with no enhanced abilities there either.

Of course, it’s possible that the developers hid some special Easter egg that we haven’t yet discovered. For now, however, across our multiple playthroughs, we don’t believe that date of birth has any meaningful impact on the player’s experience.

With all of that said, there is actually a nice surprise that appears on the birthday you set. You can find out more about that here.
