The Last of Us 2 Training Manual locations are a little off the beaten path. Those Training Manuals will give you new upgrade paths to explore. But you have to earn them first. Here’s how to find all The Last of Us 2 Training Manuals. This will earn you the Journeyman trophy as well. Just be warned that there are spoilers in this guide so tread carefully. They are, however, separated by chapter and the sub-chapter they are in. Also, like the weapons, these have a chance to pop up in different areas, depending on where you’ve been.
The Last of Us 2 Training Manual Locations | Seattle Day 1 | Downtown
The first Training Manual in the game is in the large area you get to explore in Seattle. Once you get into the courthouse, which you have to for the story, you’ll need Dina’s help to open a door. Once you open it, you’ll descend to the building’s lower levels. You’ll then be prompted to ride an elevator cable down. Don’t do that!
Instead, go to the end of the hall. You’ll find a locked door and some windows like you can see in the first picture in this section. Break those windows. The manual will be sitting on a bookshelf of the part of the room opposite of the whiteboard with the safe combo scribbled on it. This is the Prep book which will open up the crafting part of the skill tree (you might have this if you pre-ordered the game). And as the first paragraph states, this can also be near the fire truck in the main outside part of the downtown Seattle area.

The Last of Us 2 Training Manual Locations | Seattle Day 1 | Capitol Hill
The second one is in the same chapter in Seattle Day 1. You’ll eventually make your way through an area with a decent amount of WLF soldiers. There is a gas station, market, and book store (just to name a few of the shops) in this area. You’re going to want to make your way to book store and coffee shop, which are connected. Be careful because there are Infected in there!
There are multiple ways to get into the shop but make your way to the cafe part. The Last Round: Survivalist Magazine will open up the stealth branch of the upgrade tree.

The third manual is in the Seattle Day 2 chapter. In the start of the chapter, you’ll be near a ton of shops. Go into the Gold Star Liquor store in the above picture.
Hop inside through one of the windows and you’ll see a door (like in the above picture) with a broken stairwell. Drop down there in that hell pit and kill the Shambler.
Scavenge around and then you’ll see the crawlspace you can crawl through, as the arrow is pointing to. Crawl through that hole and them climb up the stairs.
The Outdoor Sportsman Training Manual is on the floor near the counter. This opens up the precision part of the skill tree.

The fourth Training Manual. Once you’re supposed to go into the place with the “DO NOT BLOCK 24 HOUR ACCESS” sign on it, don’t. That is where the game’s story continues. Instead, go into the nearby apartment building as shown in the above picture.
But the door is locked so look to the right and you’ll see an open crawlspace at the bottom of the stairs (like you see in the picture). Go inside and up the stairs and you’ll have two doors. Go into the unlocked one and go to the bench at the far end of the room.
Going to work at the bench will cause one of the doors in the room to open, which is marked by the red arrow.
The Organic Chemistry: Concepts and Practice Training Manual is on the foot of the bed in that newly unlocked room. This opens up the explosive part of the upgrade tree.
