What to do when dead in Phasmophobia

Wondering what to do when dead in Phasmophobia? If a player is killed by the ghost, they get to come back as a spirit and continue walking around the map. A lot of users question if they can help surviving teammates, or if there are objectives for dead players. Here’s what dead users can do in Phasmophobia on PC.

Can you do anything after dying in Phasmophobia?

Obviously, all Phasmophobia players are aiming not to die. That’s easier said than done, though, when one of several evil entities is stalking players. As the characters’ Sanity bars begin to drain, it’s almost inevitable that ghostly fingers will creep over the screen and kill some users. Can those dead players then be of any use to the survivors in Phasmophobia?

At the time of writing, there’s nothing to do when dead in Phasmophobia. Dead players can explore and observe teammates, but there are no specific objectives to complete as a ghost. While surviving players can still be heard by ghosts via in-game voice chat, living users can not hear ghosts in Phasmophobia.

As a result of this, unless using a third-party chat application, dead players can’t even talk to living players to help out. Still, new players might be able to learn about certain mechanics by watching more experienced teammates while dead in Phasmophobia. It can also just be fun to watch and listen to others get scared, especially if they’re friends.

According to the Phasmophobia Trello, the developers plan to give dead players more to do in the future. “Add something for dead players to do” reads one item on the content roadmap. This could be “just for fun or to help alive players” and the dev team is open to community suggestions. One highlight among suggestions is dead players being able to delay the ghost from within the spirit realm. Another, less helpful, community idea is to have deceased players interfere with equipment as punishment for a member of the team dying.

Hopefully, a Phasmophobia dead players update will come soon.
