The latest Major League Baseball game is out now, and rumors are spreading that some users can play for free. Is that actually the case, though? On the surface, it sounds way too good to be true. For those wondering how to get MLB The Show 21 for free, here’s the lowdown.

Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One owners with an active Xbox Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate subscription can download and play MLB The Show 21 for free.
Although Xbox Game Pass is a paid subscription service, for existing subscribers, MLB The Show 21 costs nothing extra. The new Major League Baseball title is available to download via the Game Pass tab or the digital Microsoft Store on consoles. It’s also available across both generations, so Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One users are all equally eligible.
MLB The Show 21 isn’t currently available on PC, so, unfortunately, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass PC subscribers can’t claim the free download.
Similarly, it isn’t possible to get MLB The Show 21 for free on PlayStation platforms. The only way to play the new Major League Baseball simulation on PS4 and PS5 is to purchase a physical or digital copy of the game.
For fans of MLB The Show, it’s no doubt somewhat surprising that the latest installment is harder to get hold of on PlayStation. The series is synonymous with Sony systems as a platform exclusive, plus Sony Interactive Entertainment America is even the developer.
Shortly after launch, the MLB The Show 21 servers went down. Although this has been a cause of concern for the community, it was actually all part of the plan.
