Deathloop Break or Protect the Loop?: What should I choose?

Immediately after starting Deathloop, players find an initial choice: Break the Loop or Protect the Loop. Without any context, it can be hard to decide which option is better. So, get the need-to-know info on whether it’s best to choose Colt or Julianna in this Deathloop break or protect the loop guide.

Deathloop: Should I break or protect the loop?

Deathloop break or protect the loop

Players should select Break the Loop when playing Deathloop for the first time.

After completing “The Longest Day” Visionary Lead as part of the main story, users can return to the main menu and pick Deathloop’s Protect the Loop option.

Users can’t select Protect the Loop in Deathloop until they complete the tutorial as Colt. After playing the opening of the Break the Loop scenario, the ability to select Julianna opens up to players. It’s important to note that playing Julianna in the Deathloop Protect the Loop mode is a different experience. Players venture online to invade, hunt, and kill other users controlling Colt in their campaign mode timelines.

In the simplest terms, Break the Loop is basically Deathloop’s solo campaign with optional multiplayer elements. Protect the Loop is the Deathloop PvP mode for competitive players, which requires invading an individual playing Break the Loop mode while opting into the multiplayer functions.

While playing as Julianna in Protect the Loop, players have some extra tools at their disposal. It’s possible for Julianna to disguise herself as other characters and alert enemies to Colt’s presence, while also wielding weapons and setting devious traps. Players can also complete Feats to earn points and upgrade their online multiplayer loadout.
