What If? Episode 7: Is Brie Larson the Captain Marvel voice actor?

The newest episode of Marvel’s animated What If? released today. It’s an intergalactic adventure, following a party-happy Thor as he first arrives on Earth. His antics catch the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D., and asking nicely doesn’t work. As such, they have to pull out the big guns, Captain Marvel, to solve the problem. Recognize Captain Marvel’s voice in the episode? We’ve got the lowdown on whether Brie Larson is the Captain Marvel voice actor in this instalment.

Is Brie Larson the Captain Marvel voice actor in What If? Episode 7?

No, Brie Larson didn’t return for this adventure. Instead, the Captain Marvel voice actor is Alexandra Daniels.

In fact, this is Daniels’ second turn as the Captain Marvel voice actor. In episode 3 of What If?, she voices the role of Carol Danvers as she helps discern how and why so many of the Avengers are being murdered. Brie Larson didn’t voice her MCU character in that episode, and she isn’t back this time.

Interestingly, this show is the first time that Alexandra Daniels has taken on the Captain Marvel mantle. In other cases where MCU actors haven’t reprised their roles for What If?, seasoned veterans have taken over. One such case is Mich Wingert, who voices Iron Man in episode 3. He had previously played Tony Stark in other Marvel animated series, as the vocal backup for the character. After her appearances in What If?, Daniels could easily become the go-to voice for animated Captain Marvel.

Her role in the episode is quite considerable, too. She’s tasked with knocking some sense into Thor, who would much rather party with his friends on Earth than clean up the planet he’s ravaged. This leads to some tense and exciting encounters, with both heroes showing off their powers. We don’t know if Captain Marvel will return for the last two episodes. If she does, Alexandra Daniels will definitely be the Captain Marvel voice actor.
